Da giorni, oramai, gira sul web la foto di una donna (una naturista, probabilmente) completamente nuda su una spiaggia di Formentera (dove, in alcuni posti, è permesso il naturismo). La donna in questione è associata alla Presidente della Camera, Laura Boldrini. E sotto questa foto (riproposta da diverse pagine facebook) ci sono migliaia di commenti, alcuni sdegnati, alcuni volgari ed alcuni contenenti addirittura proposte sessuali.
Ma questo non c'entra con l'argomento. La Boldrini può benissimo non piacere e non è mica un reato non sopportarla. Il punto è che, dalla sua elezione, Laura è bersagliata da un mare di maldicenze, meschinità e schifezze tali da farmi convincere che in questo Paese non siamo ancora abituati all'idea di una donna al potere colta, preparata, riservata e, perché no, anche affascinante.
Perché, inutile negarlo, quest'ultimo ventennio berlusconiano ha inculcato nella mente degli italiani l'immagine di una donna-oggetto stupida, incolta, volgare e sguaiata. Una donna al servizio dei voleri dell'uomo. Una donna mai indipendente intellettualmente ed economicamente dal sistema maschilista che ingabbia il nostro Paese. Ed allora, innanzi ad una donna rispettabile come Laura, si rimane spiazzati. Ed ecco spiegate le accuse su di una sua presunta «esterofilia» e i giudizi infondati e sommari sul «buonismo» pro-immigrati, sulla cura dell'aspetto e del vestiario giudicati ridicolmente «eccessivi per una donna di sinistra». In un altro Paese, una donna che per 25 anni ha lavorato per l'Alto Commissariato ONU per i rifugiati, sarebbe una figura stimata e valorizzata. Non denigrata per aver dedicato la propria vita ai più deboli.
Ma si sa, questo è un Paese dalla doppia morale: libertino e moderno in privato, moralista e bigotto sulla scena pubblica. Dove l'ipocrisia permette a personaggi come Berlusconi, Fini e Casini di parlare di «famiglia tradizionale» (proprio loro, che hanno creato 2-3 famiglie diverse); dove i matrimoni e le adozioni gay non sono riconosciuti e osteggiati perché «non garantirebbero la serenità dei bambini», mentre le famiglie «tradizionali» sono falcidiate da violenze di ogni genere che vedono sempre più come vittime le donne e i figlioletti.
Questo Paese si prende il lusso di criticare una falsa foto con la neo Presidente della Camera nuda perché «inadatta» a ricoprire quel ruolo. Ipocrisia becera allo stato puro.
Sono sempre più convinto che questo sia un Paese da rifondare. Per ora, persone come Laura (a cui va la mia solidarietà) non ce le meritiamo.

The Italian hypocrisy, Laura Boldrini and the naturist
For a few days now, the photo of a woman has been seen online (a naturist, probably), completely naked on a Formentera beach (where, in some places, naturism is allowed). The woman has been associated to the President of the Chamber, Laura Boldrini. And under this photo (published by several Facebook pages) there are thousands of comments, some of which outraged, some vulgar and some even containing sexual proposals.
Now, I'm not scandalized for the picture, let it be clear. I actually think that certain taboos about nudity are to be finally overcome. And even if it were a true picture, I wouldn't have had any problems because naturism, where it is allowed, isn0t a crime and for me it isn't something to be ashamed of.
But this has nothing to do with the point. Boldrini isn't liked and it's not a crime to not like her. The point is that, after her election, Laura has been the target of an incredible number of gossip, evil talk, low japes and such amenities that I am convinced that this country we're not used to the idea of a powerful woman who is prepared, reserved, and why not, even fascinating.
Because, it is useless to deny it, this last Berlusconian twenty years has put in the minds of Italians the image of an object woman who is stupid, vulgar and without class. A woman at the service of the man's will. A woman who is never intellectually and economically independent from a manled system that holds our country back. So in front of a woman as respectable as Laura, they are baffled. And that's the explanation for the accusations of her supposed love for other countries, and the simpleminded judgements on her pro-immigrant cause, the care she takes in her clothing and the way she looks, which are "ridiculously excessive for a left wing woman". In another country, a woman who has worked for 25 yeras at the UN for refugees, would be an esteemed and valued figure. Not denigrated because she dedicated her life to the weak.
But as we know, this is a country with a double morale: libertine and modern in private, moralist and conservative in public. Where hypocrisy allows people like Berlusconi, Fini and Casini to talk about "traditional family" (them, who have created 2-3 different families); where gay marriage and adoption aren't recognized and are fought because "they don't guarantee the serenity of children", while "traditional" families are ravaged by violences of every kind that more and more often see women and children as the victims.
This country allows itself the luxury of criticizing a false picture of the new President of the Chamber naked because she is "inapt" to cover that role. Plain hypocrisy.
I'm more and more convinced that this country must be refunded. For now, we don't even deserve people like Laura.
