Operazione Fashion Shower

Fashion Shower Operation

You either love her or hate her: when we talk about Anna dello Russo, there are rarely compromises. For the editor at large of Vogue Nippon eccess has always been a style signature: it's only natural that in view of such an important event such as the launch of her newest collection for H&M, in store starting October 4th, Dello Russo wanted to do things in style.

The result is Fashion Shower: a self proclaimed viral video in which AdR appears in cubist version, a miniskirt and latex boots included, while she dances, shows the hyperbaroque accessories she drew for the Swedish chain, and states her ten style commandments.

Diffused on H&M's social channels, the clip has spread online, as planned: it doesn't happen every day to see a senior fashion editor dance in a PVC minidress. And immediately the discussion flared: genius or pure folly?

The New York Times has been quite categoric, defining Fashion Shower "equal parts insanity, fabulousness and the kind of train wreck that makes you feel just a little bit sorry for the subject, even though you know she is making a lot of cash for flashing her long legs." But there have been supporters: beyond those who compared AdR to Anna Piaggi, there are also those (the always acute Marchetti) who have seen in this bizarre operation the dawn of a next revolution in fashion editory, which would be indeed much needed.

In all this a single certainty: Anna dello Russo has reached her goal, adding another chapter to her own mythology.

How come today, especially in the fashion communication field, trash is more and more taking over, is another matter which would deserve, in my opinion, some deep thinking.
