Il nostro prossimo intervistato, Matteo Berlucchi, è il nuovo CEO di aNobii.com: avremo modo di parlare dell'evoluzione del servizio e delle prospettive di crescita per il futuro del più usato social network per libri in Italia.

Domani avremo il piacere di intervistare Matteo Berlucchi, attualmente CEO di aNobii.com.

Il suo motto è "L'unica cosa costante della vita è il cambiamento". Il cambiamento secondo Matteo infatti è come un'onda, e le aziende devono imparare a cavalcarla con la migliore delle tavole da surf: l'innovazione.

Laureato in Fisica all'Università degli Studi di Padova, ha completato gli studi presso l'Imperial College di Londra, città nella quale attualmente risiede.

Nel 1995 ha fondato la sua prima startup, netEstate, che costituiva il primo sistema di proprietà immobiliare online in Gran Bretagna.
In seguito ha lavorato in diverse aziende, imparando come coinvolgere le persone online.

Nel 2001 ha fondato Skinkers insieme a David Long, progetto che lo ha portato ad acquisire un notevole bagaglio di esperienza per diversi aspetti: il mondo delle soluzioni widget/desktop per il marketing online, portare un'azienda da una scrivania di riserva a casa a 75 persone, riposizionare un'azienda da marketing online a software enterprise, imparare come costruire e vendere software enterprise, raccolta fondi da VC ed Angel, il coinvolgimento dei consumatori a tutti i livelli, portare la strategia aziendale alla velocità del mercato.

Nel 2007 ha aperto una divisione di Skinkers che ora è un'azienda indipendente, chiamata Livestation, che fornisce un'interpretazione originale e fresca di come le news live possano essere fruite attraverso connessioni IP (web, desktop, iPhone, Black berry, PS3, etc.) con un singolo account.

Matteo è anche fondatore di Vini Italiani, e dal 2010 è CEO di aNobii, community di lettori online costruita dai lettori per i lettori, che permette di costruire la propria libreria, trovare libri e condividerli. La missione di aNobii è quindi di avvicinare gli amanti dei libri e incoraggiare la lettura.

Avremo modo di parlare specialmente di aNobii, di nuova editoria, del mercato dei tablet e delle novità che aNobii presenterà nei prossimi mesi, ma anche di Livestation!

Tomorrow we'll have the pleasure of interviewing Matteo Berlucchi, currently CEO of aNobii.com.

His motto is "The only constant thing in life is change". He thinks change is like a wave and businesses have to learn how to surf on it. The surf board is innovation.

After the degree in Physics at the Università degli Studi di Padova, he completed his studies at the Imperial College in London, where he lives.

In 1995 he set up his first start-up (netEstate) which built the first online property system in the UK.
He then got some proper jobs for a few years where he spent most of the time learning how to engage people online.

In 2001, he set up Skinkers with his friend David Long and since then he has gained a lot of experience in several fields: the world of widgets/desktop solutions for online marketing, building a company from a spare desk at home to 75 people, repositioning a company from "chalk to cheese" (from online marketing to enterprise software), learning how to build and sell enterprise software, fund raising from VCs and Angels, engaging customers of all kinds at all levels (enterprises, agencies, small firms), moving the company strategy at the speed of the market (hard but essential in this day and age).

In 2007 he set up a division of Skinkers which is now an independent company called Livestation, which provides a very original and fresh interpretation of how live TV news can be enjoyed over an IP connection (web, desktop, iPhone, Blackberry, PS3, etc) with a single account.

Matteo is also founder of Italian Wines, and since 2010 he is CEO of aNobii, an online reading community built by readers for readers allowing you to shelve, find and share books. Their mission is to bring book lovers together and encourage reading.

We'll have the chance to talk about aNobii, new publishing methods, the tablet market and the strategies aNobii will embrace in the following months, but also Livestation and the perspectives it offers!

Qualche giorno fa abbiamo avuto il piacere di intervistare David Orban, startupper e visionario attualmente CEO di dotsub.com

In questa seconda parte dell'intervista (qui trovate la prima parte) abbiamo parlato di conoscenza libera e aperta facendo l'esempio della pubblicazione online del genoma dell'influenza del 1918. Secondo David la libertà è un processo molto complicato e delicato. Ci sono persone poco equipaggiate e meglio equipaggiate per comprendere quali possano essere le conseguenze che un eventuale cattivo utilizzo di certe informazioni, anche se in un sistema democratico non dobbiamo mai smettere di chiederci quanto sia giusto che il secondo gruppo decida per il primo. David ha parlato anche di Internet delle cose, che però è totalmente dipendente da condizioni pre-esistenti: una rete Internet diffusa, veloce e affidabile, delle fonti di energia affidabili e poco costose e infine le applicazioni. Così come il personal computer ha trovato la sua killer app nel word processor e nel foglio elettronico, allo stesso modo la Internet delle cose deve trovare la sua killer app per poter diventare un fenomeno massivo. Parlando di nuova editoria David ha evidenziato il fatto che la trasformazione dell'immagazzinamento del sapere su carta in conoscenza dinamicamente accessibile in forma elettronica accelererà enormemente nei prossimi anni. Il libro, svincolato dai limiti e dalle costrizioni insite nella natura del processo editoriale e di pubblicazione di un libro, potrà assumere nuove forme.
Già Amazon.com pubblica ebook di sole 10 pagine a un costo molto basso, cosa che non sarebbe stata possibile con un libro tradizionale per ragioni puramente economiche. [video]

A suo avviso l'imposizione di un tetto massimo di sconto è una restrizione arbitraria del commercio e della libera iniziativa che non ha ragione di esistere.
La diversa tassazione per libri cartacei ed ebook è già un grande ostacolo: in molti paesi, Italia compresa, i libri cartacei hanno un'IVA molto bassa o pari a zero, mentre gli ebook sono equiparati a software e vengono tassati con un'IVA del 20% (21% in conformità alla recente manovra finanziaria). Per concludere ho chiesto a David cosa dovremmo aspettarci dai prossimi 10 anni, in che modo la tecnologia renderà le nostre vite migliori.
David ha declinato la sua risposta in tre grandi aree: la produzione di energia pulita, attraverso un sistema distribuito, con pannelli solari sempre più efficienti; le modalità di trasporto, che cambieranno radicalmente il modo in cui intendiamo le macchine oggi; le esperienze e le sperimentazioni nella vita di ognuno, come viaggi e partecipazione ad altre comunità diventeranno qualcosa di comune, senza implicare la perdita delle radici. A few days ago we had the pleasure of interviewing David Orban, startupper and visionary currently CEO of dotsub.com.

In this second part of the interview we talked about free and open knowledge with the example of the publication of the 1918 flu genoma online. In David's opinion freedom is a complicated and delicate process. There are people who are not fully equipped and people who are better equipped to understand what the consequences of the misuse of certain information can be, even though we must never stop asking ourselves in what limits it is right that the second group decides for the first, in a democratic system. [video]

David has also talked about the Internet of things, which is totally dependent on pre-existing conditions: a widespread, fast and reliable network, reliable and cheap energy sources and applications. Just as the personal computer found its killer app in the word processor and the electronic spreadsheet, the Internet of things must find its killer app to finally explode. [video]

Talking about publishing, David has pointed out that the transformation of the storage of knowledge on paper into a more dynamically accessible electronic form will accelerate enormously in the next few years. The book, released from the limitations and constraints that are embedded in the publishing process, will now be able to take new forms.
Amazon.com is already selling 10 page ebooks at a very low price, which wouldn't be possible with traditional books for purely economical reasons. [video]

In his opinion imposing a maximum possible discount is an arbitrary restriction to trade and free initiative and it has no reason to exist.
Different taxation for physical books and ebooks is already an obstacle: in many countries, Italy included, physical books have a very small or zero VAT, while ebooks are equated to software and are taxed with 20% VAT (21% in conformity with the recent financial maneuver). [video]

I asked David what we should expect from the next 10 years, in what way technology will make our lives better.
David has structured his answer in three big parts: the production of clean energy in a distributed manner, with solar pannels that are getting more and more efficient; transportation, which will radically change the way we think of cars today; experiences and experiments in everybody's lives, such as travelling and participating in other communities will become very common and it will not represent losing your roots. [video]

Prossimamente: Alessandro Bonino @eio

Fra pochi giorni avremo il piacere di intervistare Alessandro Bonino, blogger e scrittore italiano autore del blog "E io che mi pensavo", dichiarato miglior blog letterario del 2008.

Nel 2005 ha lanciato il blog di satira politica Spinoza.it insieme a Stefano Andreoli. Spinoza ha vinto il premio "Miglior blog italiano" per l'anno 2009 e 2010 e il premio della satira di Forte dei Marmi.

Nel 2007 ha curato il libro "Sempre cara mi fu quest'ernia al colon", basato sul gioco del fincipit, sempre con Stefano Andreoli, uscito nella Biblioteca Umoristica Mondadori.

Inoltre nel 2010 ha curato "Spinoza. Un libro serissimo", tratto dall'omonimo blog, uscito per Aliberti Editore. Per Aliberti, e sempre con Stefano, dirige la collana Sbalzi d'umore e nel 2011 ha fondato, insieme a Paolo Nori, la casa editrice Sugaman.

"Sugaman nasce perché pensiamo che sia il caso di affrontare i libri elettronici in modo diverso da come li stanno affrontando i grandi editori. Non ci piace che i libri elettronici costino quasi quanto l’edizione cartacea e soprattutto non ci piace che vengano poste limitazioni artificiali alla loro circolazione."

Gestisce con Stefano il sito Spinoza, e ha un cane immaginario di nome Breznev, "autore" del tumblr di Alessandro, Phonkmeister, aperto nel 2007.

E' tra gli autori dell'agenda Comix per gli anni 2008, 2009, 2010 e 2011, scrive sul Canemucco, ha creato il sito della rivista letteraria L'accalappiacani e quello dello scrittore Paolo Nori.

Ha appena tradotto un inedito di Bruce Sterling in uscita presso 40k, dal nome "Il bisturi napoletano".

A Natale 2009 ha pubblicato un ebook gratuito che si chiama "Volevo essere un neo-distruzionista ma la mamma non mi avrebbe lasciato".

Avremo modo di parlare di nuova editoria, satira, editoria digitale, giusto per citare alcuni temi.

In just a few days we'll have the pleasure of interviewing Alessandro Bonino, Italian blogger and writer.
Born in Cuneo in 1974, he has a blog called "E io che mi pensavo", best literature blog in 2008.

In 2005 he launched the satirical blog Spinoza.it together with Stefano Andreoli. Spinoza has won the "Best Italian Blog Prize" in 2009 and 2010 and the Satirical Prize in Forte dei Marmi.

In 2007 he was the curator of the book "Sempre cara mi fu quest'ernia al colon", based on the fincipit game, with Stefano Andreoli, published by the Biblioteca Umoristica Mondadori.

In 2010 he was the curator of "Spinoza. Un libro serissimo", from the homonymous blog, published by Aliberti Editore. For Aliberti he directs the series Sbalzi d'umore and in 2011 he founded, together with Paolo Nori, the publishing house Sugaman.

"Sugaman is born because we think that it is the case to face electronic books in a way that is different from the way big editors do. We don't like the fact that electronic books cost almost the same as the paper edition and most of all we don't like the artificial limitations to their circulation."

He manages, with Stefano, the website Spinoza, and he has an imaginary dog called Breznev, "author" of Alessandro's tumblr, Phonkmeister, opened in 2007.

He is among the authors of the Comix diary for 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, he writes on Canemucco, he created the website of the literary magazine L'accalappiacani and the website of the writer Paolo Nori.

He has just translated a book by Bruce Sterling for 40k, called "Il bisturi napoletano".

For Christmas 2009 he published a free ebook called "Volevo essere un neo-distruzionista ma la mamma non mi avrebbe lasciato".
