50 questions to Matteo Renzi

Time for primary elections, everybody knows it, even rocks know it, and Matteo Renzi knows it as well, the man who has a lot at stake in the game, or at least this is how it looks like.

It seems that the little Florence Obama, who changed the presidential "Change" first with "Scrapping" and then with "Now", is the great news, because he managed to create a space where it seemed there was none.

We're curious, we people of the web, we people of the online, of social networks and so on, so we gathered a few questions, well let's say they were quite a few, but we selected them and we would really appreciate if Matteo took a little bit of his time to answer. Perhaps when he's in his camper and comes home from a day of "primary" elections campaign, or early in the morning when he's still fresh.

Renzi is present on social networks, and with great strength, so it wouldn't be very well mannered of him to ignore us. We want to learn more about the topics we found on the website, the ones we listened to in political talk shows and entertainment shows. For example what he thinks about the Tobin tax, about the separation of judiciary carreers, what he thinks about the biological testament and assisted procreation, of how you fight tax evasion and how to fight mafia in the real economy, which he has well reminded as well.

We are voters, and it's always good to remember it: perhaps some of you won't vote for him, others maybe will, the important thing is to have confrontations, which don't need to happen with his competitors, but first of all with the people.

This is what we are: people, curious people, which might be a defect, direct, honest, no strange words, we listen to everyone and will listen to you as well.

If you will answer.

Buona visione!

StartupID | Claudio Bedino of Starteed

The 25th interview of StartupID is with Claudio Bedino of Starteed.

First of all we asked what Starteed is and how the project was born: it is a crowdfunding platform that introduces an innovation element, an economical return to those who support ideas both financially, and with their knowledge and work. The model doesn't have any capital distribution, since it is not an equity based model. [video]

The project was born in December 2011: Claudio has told us that he didn't know the crowfunding scenario very well, but that he discovered it while exploring the idea. From there the development phase started, the building of the team and the capital gathering that will bring to the launch of the platform in the month of September 2012.

We asked Claudio some details about the practical specifics, both for those who invests, and for those who look for getting financial help with their idea. As for those who sustain an idea, there's a tangible economical return which is calculkated on what is the influence of the donor on the project. Through various mechanisms of feedback, Starteed is transformed in a platform that isn't just crowdfungind, but also crowdsourcing and coworking. [video]

For those who propose the idea, there's another advantage: the possibility of giving a definite boost to what is the phase of divulgation of the idea. The team has started from an analysis on the usage and costumes of Europeans, since Europe is the reference market, and has learned that the European market, unlike the American one, is less incline to the purely filantropic principle, and is more incline to a more material concept.

They've felt the need to create a model that could incentivate the community to an active role, so that the user didn't just stop to donation, but was incentivated to create a relationship with the creator, and participate in all the phases of development of the idea.

On the one side the community is incentivated to support ideas not only economically, on the other no society quotes are lost or filluted: the model is halfway between a reward based model and an equity model.

We asked Claudio some more information about the launch of the platform: it will start the evening of September 24th with 20 project that are currently under selection. 130 projects of all kinds have been proposed, from the constructions of wells in Nepal to design and tech projects. [video]

The guidelines for the proposal of projects are very rigid, even though Starteed offers a concrete support for the writing of the project page. They're also very rigid as for the completedness of the content, because not only the project reputation is on the line, but that of the platform itself.

Various projects will be sustained, but at least initially there will be more concentration on those that have a commercial goal, and that fundamentally are able to sell. Starteed is already making arrangements with retailers to give the opportunity to sell products not only on their online channel, but also in physical stores. They will also sustain social, charity and humanitary projects: the only ones that will be excluded are the "fund my life" projects, both for internal policiy and for a strategic choice.

At the moment everyone who wants to send their idea can do it on Starteed's website through the "create" function. You will have the insert the creator's data, the data of the project, and photos and videos that can convince and investor to bet on that idea. The team will evaluate if the project can be done, whether the requested sum is functional, and if something is missing they will contact the creator and help to integrate the project page. [video]

From September 24th onward the projects will be evaluated and published on the platform as they come in.

I invite everyone to view the full interview, much richer than my brief synthesis.

Enjoy!

10minuticon Claudia Vago @tigella

Buona visione!

10minuteswith Claudia Vago

A few days ago we ahd the pleasure of interviewing Claudia Vago, blogger and creator of the project that took her for one month to the United States in order to document the Occupy Wall Street movement.

First of all we asked Claudia how the experience actually was: she thinks it was incredible and enriching from a variety of points of view. She learned a lot about the Occupy movement, the web, and how the web can be used to tell stories. An experience that taught her a lot, and the work she 's doing about the time she spent in the US is still in progress. [video]

When we first talked with Claudia, her project was still a newborn idea, so we asked what went as planned and what not. First of all, even though the project name was OccupyChicago, she only spent 3 days in Chicago, the three days around the NATO conference. The rest she spent in New York, where the movement was born, to try to get on its trail and understand it in depth. [video]

There have been many negative and positive reactions to the project, so we asked which ones have impressed her more, from both sides. She thinks that criticism and praise have been largely motivated, but there has also been a lot of preconceptual criticism as well. For her it has been an experiment of building a digital tale: she didn't just give the finished product, she also unveiled the path of construction of the tale itself, giving the public the materials she used for the final product. [video]

It's a lot of material: photos, videos, text, but also a lot of paper she gathered during her trip, from flyers to copies of the Occupy Wall Street Journal and other magazines the movement prints itself. The goal is to find the fil rouge that represents Occupy Wall Street at its best.

Claudia also revealed her intention to open a website in Italian that will serve to tell the daily story of the movement, the initiatives, actions and manifestations that are organized every day, but also her thoughts that should help Italians understand the movement better. She left the US with the sensation that she was starting to grasp the meaning of OWS, and with the awareness that it is a movement that must be interrogated with different questions than the ones used for a political movement. [video]

The answer would be forced, and it would mirror a preconception that doesn't interrogate a complex movement like OWS: so what she did is more of an anthropological work than a journalistical one, made of a lot of observation from the inside, analyzing dynamics, relationships, terminology. This is why she is convinced she has seen things that a journalistic approach wouldn't have been able to reveal.

Finally we asked Claudia in which way the movement will influence the elections: she thinks OWS has undoubtedly influenced the public debate, but it is very hard to transform that into a direct influence. Many of the terms they use have become themes and words of institutional politics, but it's more probable that this happened to co-opt rather than adopt. [video]

I invite everyone to view the full interview, much richer in insights than my brief synthesis!

Enjoy!

Buona visione!

Intervistato.com | Fabio Lalli

A few days ago we had the pleasure of interviewing Fabio Lalli, founder of the Indigeni Digitali network and compulsive startupper.

The Indigeni Digitali network was born one and a half years ago from an idea that Fabio has often brought in the companies he has worked in: periodical informal drinks, a chance to do knowledge sharing among people working in different divisions inside the same company.
Afterwards the drink soiree was extended to the web, and it has become "Indigeni Digitali", growing and spreading rapidly in Rome and in the rest of Italy.
Each of the feathers in the Indigeni Digitali logo has a meaning, they represent the values of the  Indigeni and they basically are a synthesis of Pekka Himanem's Hacker Ethic[video]

Inside the network there aren't just programers and technicians, but also people who work in communication, managers, people who have already done business: these hybrid competences have lead to new projects, startups and even new job opportunities.
The future goals are on the one side make the network bigger, and it has already started to attract the interest of some ivnestors, on the other side maintaining the aspect that Fabio thinks is the most important: the selfless and useful approach. It's a network a people who help each other without brand interests or influences. Sponsors actively participate and make the network grow, but they don't modify the values and the model of the network itself. [video]

Fabio has stressed the importance of the collaboration with universities: Indigeni Digitali can represent a great opportunity for transferring experience from managers and entrepreneurs to people who are just now finishing college, and make new projects to light. [video]

Fabio has also talked about Followgram, an app born from the collaboration with Lorenzo Sfienti which allows users to extend Instagram's basic functions. The app has become extremely popular a very short time and it has been reviewed by CNN and The Next Web, and is also currently used by important brands such as AirFrance, British Airways, Audi and Converse.
Followgram's numbers are very promising: in 2 months 8600 have been generated (update: 16.600) vanity URLs, and the app counts 150 - 160 subscriptions, 17.000 unique users and 50.000 visited pages a day.
The app's success has brought its founders to think about a pro model that could be monetized. [video]

As for the economical aspect of startups, Fabio thinks that most projects should be self-sustainable and adopt a model that allows them to go online in a structured fashion, without needing money before they even start.
This is a good exercise for understanding in what way costs can be optimized, and not be obliged to grow in a constant tie between costs and revenues. [video]

We also talked with Fabio about enterprise 2.0, systems that are more evolved than classic Intranets: in his opinion the biggest prejudice companies have towards these kinds of approaches is the fear of losing control.
His experience inside companies that have adopted these systems is veery positive. Users were very responsibilized when they were bringing their contribution inside the company platform, and the advantages were obvious: firstly of all the availability of information, secondly the engagement that brings to reinforcing the sense of belonging to the company and increasing the closeness between employer and employee. [video]

We continued talking about geolocalization, crowdsourcing, the advantages and disadvantages of closing social networks inside companies and much more.

I invite everyone to view the full interview, much richer in insight and details than my brief synthesis.

Enjoy!
