10minuticon Kristin Rosenau @pastryaffair

Buona visione!

10 minutes with Kristin Rosenau

During this interview with Kristin Rosenau, we talked about the American food blogger community, how she started her famous pastry blog, The Pastry Affair, and what have been the most difficult steps when switching from a physicist's carreer to a baker's carreer.

First of all we asked Kristin how her blog, The Pastry Affair, was born. Since a few years ago she was a Physics student, at one point she felt the need to find a creative outlet: her physics homework would eat up to 15 hours of her day. That's when she discovered foodblogging, which fascinated her so much that she started passing many hours reading and exploring new recipes, until she decided to open one of her own. [video]

Kristin takes the famous photos of her blog herself: the pictures have been appeared several times in the FoodPornDaily.com daily log. We asked if she intends to quit foodblogging and dedicate herself to a food photographer carreer, but for now it's a matter of improving techniqes, given the scarcity of space and adequate equipment. [video]

Kristin has also given us a few details about the food blogger community, a very tightened group: there's no competition, but the will to collaborate and help eachother, offering something unique to the readers. [video]

After attempting to concile the food blog and her Physics studies, she decided to give up and just follow the carreer that she loves: baking. It has been a difficult choice, especially because it was difficult for friends and family to understand, but she has no regrets. She now works 3 jobs, a part time in a local patisserie, she tutors math and science to kids and finally she blogs, which has also become a part time job now. [video]

Kristin has also told us a few things about how she finds recipes, which are the perspectives for the future, and how she sees food photography.

I invite everyone to view the full interview, very rich in details, insights and thoughts.

Enjoy!
