Prossimamente: David Orban @davidorban



Fra qualche giorno avremo il grande piacere di intervistare David Orban, imprenditore e visionario nato a Budapest nel 1965.

Attualmente è il CEO di dotsub.com, una piattaforma che permette agli utenti di trascrivere e tradurre l'audio di video online, al fine di abbattere le barriere nella comunicazione interculturale, peraltro alla base dell'Open Translation Project di TED, che porta i contenuti di TEDTalks oltre i confini della lingua inglese offrendo sottotitoli, trascrizioni interattive e la possibilità che qualsiasi video venga tradotto da un volontario ovunque nel mondo.

È ex Presidente e membro del Consiglio di Amministrazione di Humanity+, un’organizzazione dedicata a promuovere la comprensione, l’interesse e la partecipazione ai campi di innovazione emergenti.

David è stato insignito della carica di Advisor e direttore europeo dalla prestigiosa Singularity University. Inoltre è uno dei fondatori e Chief Evangelist di WideTag, Inc., una start-up a elevato profilo tecnologico che sviluppa una infrastruttura aperta per la prossima Internet degli Oggetti, e fondatore di Startupbusiness, un social network volto a migliorare l’ecosistema italiano delle startup.

È  membro del consiglio consultivo scientifico della Lifeboat Foundation, un’ONG che si pone l'obiettivo di  incoraggiare il progresso scientifico ed allo stesso tempo aiutare l’umanità a sopravvivere ai rischi esistenziali. La fondazione crea meccanismi che scoraggiano l’abuso di tecnologie sempre più potenti, quali le nanotecnologie e l’intelligenza artificiale, proponendo valide alternative.

Attivo anche nei mondi virtuali, è il fondatore di Vulcano, una delle prime comunità italiane in Second Life.

Insieme a Tim O'Reilly, Lawrence Lessig e altri, David è uno dei fondatori dell'Open Government Data Working Group, il gruppo di lavoro nato per promuovere una comprensione più ampia e profonda del perché un accesso aperto ai dati governativi sia essenziale alla democrazia.

"David supera i limiti della specializzazione, contribuendo alla nascita di un nuovo Rinascimento. Egli afferma “La mia visione si colloca all’incrocio tra tecnologia e società, di cui auspico un’evoluzione comune.”
Il suo motto è: “Qual è la domanda che dovrei fare?” Questo concetto racchiude il suo approccio per accelerare i cicli di invenzione e innovazione necessari a costruire il Nuovo Mondo."

Avremo modo di parlare di singolarità tecnologica, libertà di informazione e comunicazione interculturale.

In a few days we'll have the pleasure of interviewing David Orban, an entrepreneur and visionary born in Budapest in 1965.

He is currently the CEO of dotsub.com, a platform that allows users to transcribe and translate the audio of online videos, in an attempt to bring down intercultural comunication barriers, which is also the platform used in TED's Open Translation Project which brings TEDTalks beyond the English-speaking world by offering subtitles, interactive transcripts and the ability for any talk to be translated by volunteers worldwide.

He is the ex President and member of the Administration Counsil of Humanity+, an organization dedicated to promoting understanding, interest, and participation in fields of emerging innovation.

David is also a Lecturer of, and Advisor to the prestigious Singularity University. He is also a Founder of WideTag, a high technology start-up company providing the infrastructure for an open Internet of Things, and Co-Founder of Startupbusiness, a social network aimed at enabling the Italian startup ecosystem.

He is a Scientific Advisory Board Member for the Lifeboat Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging scientific advancements while helping humanity survive existential risks. The Foundation creates mechanisms to discourage the misuse of increasingly powerful technologies such as nanotechnology and artificial intelligence, proposing valid alternatives.

Also active in virtual worlds, he is the founder of Vulcano, one of the first Italian communities in Second Life.

Together with Tim O'Reilly, Lawrence Lessig, and others, David is one of the founders of the Open Government Data Working Group, which developed a set of principles of open government data in December 2007, aiming to promote a more robust understanding of why open government data is essential to democracy.

"David cuts across the limits of deep specialization to contribute to the new renaissance. He explains, “My vision is at the crossroads of technology and society as defined by their co-evolution.” David Orban’s personal motto is, “What is the question I should be asking?” This concept is his vehicle to accelerating cycles of invention and innovation in order to build the new world ahead."

He'll have the chance to talk about technological singularity, freedom of information and intercultural communication.
