Coming up soon: Brian Solis

In a few days we'll have the pleasure of interviewing Brian Solis, principal at Altimeter Group, a research-based advisory firm.

Solis is globally recognized as one of the most prominent thought leaders and published authors in new media. A digital analyst, sociologist, and futurist, Solis has studied and influenced the effects of emerging media on business, marketing, publishing, and culture.

At Altimeter, Brian works with businesses on new media strategies and frameworks to build bridges between companies and customers, employees, and other important stakeholders. Additionally, he specializes in change management to help businesses (and the leadership team) introduce new media resources, systems and processes, and management layers to effectively embrace and excel around the connected customer. As a result, CRM Magazine named Brian as an influential leader of 2010.

Prior to joining Altimeter, Solis was principle of FutureWorks, founding a creative agency and business consultancy for new media in 1999. Through FW, Solis led interactive and social programs for Fortune 500 companies, notable celebrities, and Web 2.0 startups.

His most recent book, End of Business as Usual, explores each layer of the complex consumer revolution that is changing the future of business, media, and culture. As consumers further connect with one another, a vast and efficient information network takes shape and begins to steer experiences, decisions, and markets. It is nothing short of disruptive.

Buona visione!

Intervistato.com | Alberto D'Ottavi

A few days ago we had the pleasure of interviewing Alberto D'Ottavi, technology blogger and journalist and co-founder of the Italian start-up Blomming.

First of all we've talked about the Italian and European situation regarding the presence of companies on social media. The integration of social in the company's organization processes, if we look at it from the point of view of internal processes and abilities management, could become an extremely versatile and useful tool. [video]

We couldn't not talk about social commerce, and Alberto has given me the classic definition: the fusion of e-commerce and social media, selling on social media and bringing the conversation where people buy.
We can distinguish three big parts in social commerce: social shopping, that brings together the conversations that develop around products, Groupon's group buying and f-commerce, which can be divided into several solutions. [video]

We have talked about Blomming, the Italian start-up that allows everyone to sell their products online, and therefore lowers the entry threshold to the world of e-commerce, which was dominated by medium and big companies, that had the technical and financial means to put their e-commerce activity on Facebook.

Blomming works as a star center, used to manage online presence and reputation, on the blog, on the website and of course on Facebook, and that allows anyone to manage the conversations that develop on social media around the products, so it truly is a tool that is designed to manage every aspect which is linked to social media.
The numbers Blomming has achieved in these first months of activity are definitely interesting: the number of active sellers on Blomming has grown by 1000%, in three months time more than 700 stores have been activated on Facebook and the online catalogue counts more than 15.000 products. [video]

Alberto has described a very precise picture of what social commerce is in Italy, and has also talked about some possible scenarios for the future development of these strategies, for example the hypothesis of merging the information available via Google search and the information available on social media. [video]

Innovation, safe payment solutions, the transition from linear media to non linear media, push advertising, "liquid" products, location based services: these and other topics have been discussed during this extremely information rich interview.

Enjoy!
