Casualmente sotto elezioni, prendendo l'occasione del messaggio per la giornata dedicata alla Pace, il Papa e il Vaticano lanciano chiaro e forte il loro messaggio. Le loro linee guida, che ancora una volta evidenziano l'arretratezza di una chiesa che va su Twitter ma non capisce il mondo.
Ma ciò che il pontefice tira in ballo non è di prerogativa della Chiesa. Anzi. E il fatto che individui temi così delicati come minacce alla pace è a mio avviso un fatto grave, che va contro ogni buon senso. E se anche il messaggio è stato inviato a tutti i capi di stato viene comunque maliziosamente da pensare che anche il Vaticano sia sceso in campagna elettorale (quella Italiana). Un vizio, questo, che la Chiesa nel Bel Paese non perde mai e a cui una certa parte politica, più che altro per interesse elettorale, tende ad assecondare.
Le unioni gay (ma non vedo perché non chiamarlo matrimonio), su cui ad esempio a Milano con la giunta Pisapia, tramite approvazione delle unioni civili, si sta provando a delineare quella che potrebbe essere nei fatti una linea guida, sono argomento che nel 2013 (ormai ci siamo) in un paese che si dichiara democratico e civile non dovrebbe nemmeno più dover trovare ostruzionismo. Allo stesso modo, eutanasia e aborto. Sono battaglie di civiltà. La società civile da qualche anno sta portando avanti battaglie e dibattiti per coinvolgere l'opinione pubblica, per aprire nuovi spiragli di democrazia, principi che vanno incontro all'autodeterminazione della persona. Non minacce alla pace.
Sono minacce che la chiesa vede rivolta a se stessa, ecco il punto. E' la paura di nuove brecce, di un nuovo 1870. O il timore di perdere quell'influenza che, nonostante tutto, da allora è rimasta. Almeno qui da noi, in Italia. E quale miglior occasione di un momento che prelude alle elezioni? Con una instabilità politica forte. Dove ancora giochi e alleanze sono tutti da fare e dove è necessario serrare i ranghi di una nuova forza cattolica, emanazione della chiesa in parlamento, per ribadire, per affermare la propria visione. La Chiesa sta qui, chi ci "ama" ci segua. Tutto il resto è una minaccia (non alla pace, ma alla chiesa). Ricorda un già sentito, in altre occasioni, nemmeno lontane nel tempo. E nel frattempo il Papa incontra, e benedice, Rebecca Kadaga, promotrice in Uganda della pena di morte per i Gay.
Non basta andare su Twitter per stare al passo con i tempi, non basta unirsi a noi con gioia per capire il mondo. Sono altre le battaglie, le aperture, i campi su cui confrontarsi. Ma anche a questo giro il piede nel mocassino papale pare più fermo e deciso che mai. Indietro di qualche secolo.

Threats to peace or rather threats to the Church?
Casually under elections, taking advantage of the message for the peace day, the Pope and the Vatican launch their message loud and clear. Their guidelines, that once again highlight the lack of evolution of a Church that is on Twitter but doesn't understand the world.
So the Pope speaks again. He does it with a message delivered by the apostolic nuncios to all State leaders. In the text the Pope quotes what he consideres the threats to peace. Beyond the right to work, Benedict XVI puts in the list euthanasia, abortion and gay marriage. All topics on which Italy for years (and not only Italy, yesterday Europe has voted on the "Fundamental Rights in the European Union" that has to do with many of the topics "enemies of peace", according to the Pope) carries on an extremely intense debate that sees the clash of political, civil and religious forces.
But what the Pope mentions isn't something the Church has to do with. On the contrary. And the fact that he says that such delicate topics are threats to peace is very serious, and is against common sense. And even though the message has been sent to all leaders, one might think that the Vatican has started its elections campaign in Italy. A vice that the Church in Italy never loses and that a certain political party tends to satisfy, for its own elections interest.
Gay unions (but I don't understand why we should call it marriage), of which in Milan with Pisapia, thanks to the approvation of civil unions, the administration is trying to define the guidelines, are a topic that in 2013 (we're basically there), in a country that calls itself as civil and democratic shouldn't even find any obstructionism. Same thing for euthanasia and abortion. They're civilization battles. A civil society that for the past few years has been carrying forward battles and debates to engage public opinion, to open new hopes of democracy, principles that go towards the autodetermination of the individual. Certainly not threats to peace.
These are threats that the Church sees for itself, that's the point. It's the fear of new breaches, of a new 1870. Or the fear of losing that influence that, in spite of everything, has remained since. At least here in Italy. And what better occasion than before the elections? With a strong political instability. Where games and allegiances are still to be defined and where it is necessary to form a new Catholic force, an expression of the Church in Parliament, to remind and impose the vision. The Church is here, who loves us will follow us. All the rest is a threat (not to peace, but to the Church). It seems like something we already heard before, in other occasions, not too long ago. And in the meanwhile the Pope meets and blesses Rebecca Kadaga, the promoter in Uganda of death penalty for gay people.
It's not enough to be on Twitter in order to be on top of times, it's not enough to unite with joy to understand the world. The battles are elsewhere, the openings, the fields on which to discuss. But this time around the foot in the pope shoe seems more firm and decided than ever. A few centuries behind.
