Buona lettura!

#NoTav: Luca Abbà's accident and the long week of the Susa Valley

After the sudden decision of anticipating the NoTAV works and Luca Abbà's accident (he is one of the leaders of the movement) during the NoTAV protests, several mobilitations and riots have started in several Italian cities.

The morning of the 27th of February, thanks to a prefect order for an urgent procedure, the operations of enlargement of the TAV works in the Chiomonte area have been initiated. The area had been defined as a strategic interest national site in January. The reaction of the locals in Val di Susa and NoTAV protesters was immediate, and they invited everyone to reach and occupy the house in the work area.

During the protest, Luca Abbà (one of the leaders of the movement), had managed to climb a high voltage tower. Here, a police officer had tried to persuade him to get down, but then the contact with the high voltage wires made Abbà fall: now he is in a farmacologic coma, at Turin's CTO.

After the accident several actions of protest by NoTAV started, first by blocking the A32 highway Torino-Bardonecchia near Chianocco, and also other riots in several Italian cities, from Rome to Bologna, Pisa and Florence. Last night three of the rioters' cars were burnt down, and yesterday a CorriereTV troupe was supposedly attacked. Declarations and statements are quite numerous, from the contested statements by Libero and Il Giornale, the declarations of politicians and those of the Leaders of the protests, as Mattei and Perino. The situation is still quite critical and doesn't contribute to a compromised solution on the TAV issue, if ever there will be one.

In the Storify you can find above, we tried to aggregate links, videos, photos and some tweets that can constitute a synthesis of this week of protests.

Enjoy!
