Buona visione!

Intervistato.com | Debora Serracchiani

A few days ago we had the pleasure of interviewing Debora Serracchiani, Italian lawyer and politician, Member of the European Parliament on behalf of the Democratic Party and member of the group Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.

We asked Debora her opinion about the current situation of the Italian Government. She thinks that the Prime Minister's downhill trend is there for all to see, and because of his inability to take care of his personal matters instead of the country's problems, Italy as well is being dragged down with him.
There is certainly the need for change, the need for new figures, and hopefully change will happen as soon as possible. [video]

Another question we asked Debora was about her practical proposals for young people's occupational future.
First of all, in her opionion it is necessary to intervene on how people enter the world of work, not on how people exit it. Secondly the types of available contracts are way too many and misused, also and mostly because they aren't controlled in any way.
Her proposals would be: more control on the types of contracts, creating an initial permanent contract that can be modified based on length of service and the contribution to the company, paying  fixed term employees more than those with a permanent contract, making social safety nets better and stimulating companies into hiring young people by lowering the amount of social security contributions they have to pay. [video]

We asked Debora how her financial manneuver would have been: first of all, she wouldn't have waited November 2011 to let the country know that the situation was severe enough to make some unpopular decisions necessary.
The main points on which she would have intervened would have been making citizens that can afford paying more taxes actually contribute more, making some intensive operations on tax evasion, transfering taxes on assets and reducing those of who works and produces, giving the possibility to small and very small companies to access credit with facilitations, cutting off the costs of politics and finally reducing taxes. [video]

Debora has also expressed her opinion about the use of social tools in political communication: she thinks that it is necessary to invest in the web, but at the same time maintain a strong contact with people and territory. [video]

We have also asked what she thinks about the "occupy" movements and the tendency of citizens to get hold of politics again. In her opinion these are important movements, that treat topics that not only regard Europe, but the whole world, such as finance, political choices for the protection of banks and insurances.
Debora has also specified she doesn't agree with all positions: as for the debt issue, her sense of responsibility and the desire to make it a better country bring her to also take care of a debt that she has only inherited, and she hasn't contributed to create. [video]

As for Matteo Renzi, Debora thinks he is a resource for PD, he is the administrator of an important city who has pointed out the topic of the rechange of the political class.
She shares some of his ideas and discusses others, but in the end it is important to discuss inside the same party, and discuss ideas: not surnames or people. [video]

We asked Debora what her opinion about Beppe Grillo is: even though she doesn't share some extreme positions of his, she has stressed that Grillo has been dealing with many important matters, first of all the short circuit between society, banks and finance.
The Democratic Party should ask itself why it can't interact with those who vote Grillo, especially because there are many points on which the two movements agree: she doesn't hold him responsible for the defeats her party has suffered, she thinks the Democratic Party should start talking to those who vote him. [video]

I invite everyone to view the full interview, much richer in details, insights and information than my brief synthesis.

Enjoy!

10minuticon Danielle Lauren @dlauren11

[video]

Buona visione!

10 minutes with Danielle Lauren

A few days ago we had the pleasure of interviewing Danielle Lauren, director, producer and creator of the 11Eleven Project.

The project was born in a cinema after seeing the films Powaqqatsi and Koyaanisqatsi, and it basically consists in making people from all over the world record a part of their lives on any recording device they have during the 24 hour period on the 11th of November.
All the creative content (video, photograph, music, sound and text) will go into the production of a feature length documentary film, a photograph book and a world music compilation. [video]

We couldn't not ask Danielle in what way her project is different from what YouTube has done with Life in a Day: in her opinion the differences can be divided into three major aspects.

Firstly, the 11Eleven Project is much more inclusive, in terms of the participating countries. Because of political motivations, some countries, such as Cuba, North Korea, Iran, Myanmar (Burma), Syria and Sudan weren't allowed to participate in the Life in a Day YouTube project.
The 11Eleven Project isn't a political one, so the main interest is in people's stories, regardless of their geographical provenience.

Secondly, the project is not for profit. The screenings will be free and the money from the sales of the DVDs, the books and the music albums will go to partnered charities.

Thirdly, the 11Eleven Project is a grassroot organization. In Danielle's opinion the fact that the movie Life in a Day didn't have any logos or strong political statements, and in no way was it particularly controversial, is probably due to the fact that the producers represented a big organization as YouTube, and that might have restricted their voices. [video]

To participate you just have to register a part of your life during the 24 hour period of the 11th of November 2011, on any recording device you want.
It is possible to upload the content on any platform, since it's not a YouTube project, as long as it has an URL and the organizers are able to view it and access it.
To help people who want to participate, 11 topics have been published, and they are to be seen as guidelines open to interpretation, which only give an idea of the direction that would be interesting to explore.
The topics consist in words like "beginnings", "love", "routine", but also "darkness" and "heartbreak": every one of these can be personally interpreted and explored through the content recorded on the 11th of November. [video]

The film will come out on the 21st of September 2012 with 5000 free screenings around the world. It will not be possible to see the film online because the goal of the project is to bring people together, get them out of their houses and gather to see the film. [video]

As for the selection criteria for the charities, they were two: firstly, the majority of the money given to said charities has to be spent for the cause they're trying to support; secondly, the charities have to be alligned with the UN Millennium Development Goals.
Charities such as the World Wildlife Fund, Save the Children, The Hunger Project and Opportunity International have been chosen. [video]

Anyone who wants to participate or support the project in other ways can find further details on the website 11Elevenproject.com and the Facebook fanpage.

I invite everyone to view the interview, which is much richer in insight and information than my brief synthesis.

Enjoy!
