Buona visione!

Intervistato.com | Cristiana Alicata

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of interviewing Cristiana Alicata, Fiat engineer and member of the Democratic Party since its foundation, and supporter of the LGBT community.

First of all Cristiana has expressed her opinion about the use of social networks by politicians. She has been keeping a blog since 2006 and has been present on Facebook for 2 years, which is the reason why she has been accused by her party. This proves that the party is incoherent when dealing with social tool, which aren't considered important: when journalists transform their content into press releases, however, they start to be considered dangerous. She reads and answers all comments on the blog, unlike other politicians that only use the blog to publish press releases, not to create dialogue with the voters. [video]

We talked about young people and the fact that they have little space to emerge in a context structured in such a hierarchical manner as the party is: Cristiana is against Veltroni's idea of a liquid party, which in her opinion only brings to the leadership of a single person, exactly like it happened for PDL.
Her idea is of an organized party, that will enhance competence and that is permeable towards the outside, so that they can engage those people who aren't inside the party, but still vote and participate to manifestations: this might be a way to make young people participate and be useful to the party. [video]

The party should be founded on the constructively used dissent, a condition that is currently not present. It is necessary to take this step because the world isn't alligned anymore, reality is liquid and in every one of us there are several complex aspects that coexist and contribute to identify the individual. Such a liquid reality, in Cristiana's opinion, can only be interpreted by a solid and very well organized party. [video]

We asked Cristiana whether young people will be able to express their own opinion, and she thinks that in order to reach this goal they will have to abandon schemes, another condition that isn't present. What often happens is that they think that it is easier to get support from above, rather than thinking that there might be someone supporting from below. Young people will be free when they will start to interpret their time, and this will mean that they'll have to start saying no's. [video]

As for the Democratic Party, Cristiana thinks that it would be very important for Bersani to use the internal resources that actually can talk with a part of the voters with which he and the apparatus cannot communicate.

A new political class, prepared and diffused, is necessary: starting from the small mountain town in the North to the small seaside town in Sicily. Maybe with this generation it will be possible to reach an European level in city administration: in her opinion to administrate doesn't only mean to take decisions, but pushing the cities towards change. Determining citizens to recycle would bring to a decrease of tons per day of the size of landfills and would allow incinerators only to burn trash that won't produce dangerous fumes. Eliminating architectonical barriers and building more bicycle paths would allow to decongest traffic and allowing disabled people in wheelchairs to live their city. [video]

In the end we asked Cristiana which is her idea about what should be the law regarding civil unions, and her package is constituted by marriage, adoptions, recognition of rainbow families and decent laws to make entering the work market for transsexuals easier.
Several times the Catholic Church has expressed negative opinions towards these kinds of measures, but in Cristiana's opinion the Church has the right to say whatever it wants: it's the secular State that should decide based on the Constitution, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and what is done in every civilized country in the world. [video]

We also talked about same sex parents families, invisible building, the distribution of resources, young people and politics.

I invite everyone to view the full interview, surely richer in insight than my brief synthesis.

Enjoy!

Corsi: ricorsi storici

Oppure fregatene. In senso lato.

Corsi: historical returns

It's clear to everyone that Don Piero Corsi, beside being a not trustworthy, selfish, rancorous person, in a word a priest, is also clearly a human case. One of the few people, among his peers, who enjoys seeing women, especially when not very dressed.

And, attention, to a person who is so easily exciteable they have given a parish in a place on the seaside, where clearly people are covered up all year. So the cases are two: this is either an incredible misfortune, or the Church authorities don't understand anything. I'd say the second hypothesis, which I by the way consider a certainty.

Now, I'd like to see you in his shoes (no, I'm joking, I'd never want anything like that): this guy sees half naked women for 6 months a year, and he's voted himself to chastity; and the most incredible thing of all is that he also intends to respect it! Or at least, it would seem like it.

Alright, I've already written a bunch of stupid stuff in this article.
Then let's say how things truly are: this priest, beyond the normal bigotry embedded in his role, beyond the lack of respect of other people's poverty (he beat a clochard), he also wants women to dress according to his wishes, because he lives his chastity as an unbearable torment?

Not great news, to be honest, it's a behavior that is historically typical for the Church, and every now and then comes back to the surface. What about a nice handjob?

He shouldn't be too worried: blindness is more easily acquired by reading prayer books written in size 2 rather than for some trivial handwork. However, it is unacceptable to pretend from others behaviors that favor choices against nature such as chastity. If you want to avoid sex, it's your damn business, but let it stay a matter between you and yourself (just like masturbation).

Or just stop caring.

Threats to peace or rather threats to the Church?

Casually under elections, taking advantage of the message for the peace day, the Pope and the Vatican launch their message loud and clear. Their guidelines, that once again highlight the lack of evolution of a Church that is on Twitter but doesn't understand the world.

So the Pope speaks again. He does it with a message delivered by the apostolic nuncios to all State leaders. In the text the Pope quotes what he consideres the threats to peace. Beyond the right to work, Benedict XVI puts in the list euthanasia, abortion and gay marriage. All topics on which Italy for years (and not only Italy, yesterday Europe has voted on the "Fundamental Rights in the European Union" that has to do with many of the topics "enemies of peace", according to the Pope) carries on an extremely intense debate that sees the clash of political, civil and religious forces.

But what the Pope mentions isn't something the Church has to do with. On the contrary. And the fact that he says that such delicate topics are threats to peace is very serious, and is against common sense. And even though the message has been sent to all leaders, one might think that the Vatican has started its elections campaign in Italy. A vice that the Church in Italy never loses and that a certain political party tends to satisfy, for its own elections interest.

Gay unions (but I don't understand why we should call it marriage), of which in Milan with Pisapia, thanks to the approvation of civil unions, the administration is trying to define the guidelines, are a topic that in 2013 (we're basically there), in a country that calls itself as civil and democratic shouldn't even find any obstructionism. Same thing for euthanasia and abortion. They're civilization battles. A civil society that for the past few years has been carrying forward battles and debates to engage public opinion, to open new hopes of democracy, principles that go towards the autodetermination of the individual. Certainly not threats to peace.

These are threats that the Church sees for itself, that's the point. It's the fear of new breaches, of a new 1870. Or the fear of losing that influence that, in spite of everything, has remained since. At least here in Italy. And what better occasion than before the elections? With a strong political instability. Where games and allegiances are still to be defined and where it is necessary to form a new Catholic force, an expression of the Church in Parliament, to remind and impose the vision. The Church is here, who loves us will follow us. All the rest is a threat (not to peace, but to the Church). It seems like something we already heard before, in other occasions, not too long ago. And in the meanwhile the Pope meets and blesses Rebecca Kadaga, the promoter in Uganda of death penalty for gay people.

It's not enough to be on Twitter in order to be on top of times, it's not enough to unite with joy to understand the world. The battles are elsewhere, the openings, the fields on which to discuss. But this time around the foot in the pope shoe seems more firm and decided than ever. A few centuries behind.
