XF6: Chiara wins, Ics amazes and the audience of Twitter generates 150.000.000 impressions

We've arrived at the end of this long journey through the analysis of the second screen phenomenon of the XFactor audience, which has faithfully commented the talent show on Twitter. Let's see the data of this Final divided in two evenings that has crowned Chiara Galiazzo winner on all fronts.

Timeline
Both airings have registered the maximum peak of interactions between 22 and 23:30. Thursday the first peak, halfway through the evening, is connected to the arrival of the international guest Kylie Minogue, who has catalyzed the attention right after the exhibition of the 4 finalists, while the second was at the moment of the elimination of Cixi.
On Friday, the first great stream of conversations is registered when David is unexpectedly eliminated, while the following is at the end of the night, while the audience waited for the verdict that declared Ics second on the podium and Chiara queen of X Factor 6.

Top posters
Among the most active users in these two evenings of final we find at the first place the official account of the show, followed by @deppucino (206 tweets), @penguin_saint (182) and @martiguglielmi (172), even if in these two days of serrated tweets the podium of top posters has been conquered by the young target of X Factor.

Top impressions
Among the accounts with most followers, the ones generating most impressions have been the official @XFactor_Italia (54.676.764), @donnamoderna (10.196527), and @simo_ventura (7.250.573), followed by La Pina, Morgan and Daria Bignardi, who has commented every airing with at least one tweet. On the podium tof he active users with most followers we find - after the show's account - @skyuno, @alecattelan and once again Morgan.

Top followed
Putting the accent on the most mentioned hashtags and the most used words during these two airings, we can note how the attention has been concentrated on the official hashtags of the show and of the two finalists, followed by #xfactor and #xfucktor and finally #mika. The international guest has come back to duet with Chiara, and many have loved their performance.

Chiara has outperformed all her adversaries both in the talent show and the social network. In these two finals she has been nominated 10.291 times, her hashtag used 8.976 times, for a total of almost 20.000 tweets. ICS, who has amazed everyone arriving at one step from victory, has been mentioned 5.972 times and his name mentioned 5.755 times, for a total of 11.727 dedicated tweets. Third in line Davide with a total of 10.642 tweets and Cixi with 7.878 mentions.

Most frequent hashtags
A final that confirms Chiara as the most discussed and beloved character of this edition, but most of all brings XFactor to be the best social show of 2012. The online share reached thanks to the new voting rules and the attention of new information channels, makes the talent show a true case history in the Italian television reality. We'll see if before the next edition, other productions will follow in these tracks and what X Factor will come up with in order to remain a reference for its social audience and not only.

XF6: in the final ICS and Cixi reach Chiara on the podium. Who will win?

The X-Factor semifinal has animated the passionate of the second screen, who have sustained their idols by discussing on Twitter.

During the evening of November the 29th 2012, there have been 41.697 tweets, for a total of 12.371 unique active users and 53.118.129 impressions (the sum of the potential visualizations of tweets), with two peaks of conversations reaching 389 tweets at 22:00 and 23:52.

One step away from the finals, the Twitter audience has proved to be avery active in defending its favorite talents. The unexpected elimination of Daniele hasn't left the audience cold: the peaks of conversations during the evening are exactly correspondent to the first vote of the public that excluded Simona Ventura's singer form the second part of the airing, and at the moment of the final ballott. Numerous and animated conversations because of the presence of the ballott itself, of the other favorite Cixi, who the public took to the finals.

Among the users in the chart of top posters we find @xlavimars (151 tweets), followed by @lucri3096 (124 tweets) and @Penguin_saint (112): all three of them part of the target that has been the most active for weeks, the teens.

Among the accounts with most followers, the ones generating more impressions have been obviously the official @XFactor_Italia (16.640.092), @donnamoderna (5.710.344) and @inartemorgan (1.402.932). The show account and judge Morgan's account we also find in the top followed, most mentioned users (respectively 4715 and 756 times), followed by @SkyUno (505) @lapinadeejay and @alecattelan.

As for the attention of the audience towards singers, above all Daniele emerges, whose name or hashtag has been tweeted more than 6.000 times, and has been eliminated anyway. As for finalist Cixi, her hashtag has been quoted more than 2.5000 times, her name almost 3.000 times, for a total of more than 5.000 dedicated tweets. Chiara, who everyone wants to see win, has been nominated 2.030 times, her hashtag used 2.302 times, for a total of 4.300 tweets. The ecletical ICS (4.600 tweets) has now a faithful fanbase.

This data could predict an inexpected victory. Chiara has two very strong rivals behind her, and very discussed online. There could be some true surprises.

X-Factor 6: 50.000 tweets, Chiara in the finals and Morgan steals the scene

The sixth episode of X Factor has made the audience talk a lot, both on TV and Twitter, for the awful reaction arisa had when her contestants were eliminated. One of the trash scenes that will remain in the annals of TV and that has stimulated discussion on social networks, but let's see in detail how many mentions #XF6 had last Thursday.

During the evening of Thursday, November 22nd 2012, there have been 44.024 tweets, for a total of 13.106 unique active users and 49.610.351 impressions (the sum of the potential visualizations of tweets), with a maximum peak of conversations that reached 412 at 22:10.

Given the problematic episode and the discussions started right at the end of it (23:50), it's not surprising that the conversations were so many even after midnight. We should point out that the time around 22, when we see more tweets, is the moment when the international guest performend, teen idol Conor Maynard, who then stopped during the show as the fifth judge, making the young girls go mad. If we see the demografic data, we can notice that the gentle sex has dominated the male public this week as well.

The users who get the place of top posters this week are @pupiparis (104) followed by @1999chicca (92) and @Salvatore_yep (90), all three of them representing the teenager audience that is getting broader, and more important when voting during the X-Factor airings. This week on the frantic social activity of the under 18 target, not only Maynard's presence has had a crucial role, but also the ballot between two competitors that were very close to the youngest: Davide and Frères Chaos, very loved the first, very hated the latter.

Among the accounts with most followers, the ones generating more impressions have been @donnamoderna (3.859.883), @lapinadeejay (1.665.468) and @elenasantarelli (1.048.756).
The most mentioned users have been @SkyUno (671), @inartemorgan (489) and @conormaynard (466) followed by Arisa and Simona Ventura. Data that reflect the crucial moments of the airing, the complete scenic dominance of Morgan and his competitors, and the discussion between Simona and Rosalba Pippa.
This can be observed at a temporal level analysis of tweets regarding judges, who, as we can see from the graphics, have stimulated the discussions on Twitter quite a lot.

As for the singers, metrics show that the public continues to love Chiara (3866 dedicated tweets and 2.001 mentions of #chiara), followed in the charts by ballott protagonists Davide and Frères Chaos. Cixi continues to move the souls of social spectators as well.

Analyzing the most mentioned hashtags, we see how #xtra6 is up in the chart till the second place, thanks to the fighting during ExtraFactor between the two female judges and the accusations launched to the production by Frères Chaos. It's significant that the non official hashtag #xfucktor (1.325) is more and more used instead of the official one.

6. Tag cloud

X-Factor 6: almost 50.000.000 impressions, Daniele winner on Twitter

The fifth airing of X Factor Italia continues to engage the public on Twitter, which we could easily define as the 5th judge of the SkyUno talent show.

During last week's airing, where Yendry and one of the audience favorites (Nice) have been eliminated, we've seen an explosive Daniele triumph. Let's see whether the mention data on Twitter say the same story.

Data
During the evening of Thursday 15th of November 2012, there have been 26.995 tweets, with a total of 9.332 unique active users and 43.390.441 impressions (the sum of the potential visualizations of tweets) with maximum peak of conversations that has reached 331 tweets at 23:09.

Timeline
Given the airing dense with criticism and eliminations, as you can notice from the graphics, all the airing time was a true ferment of mentions, with a peak at 23, at the beginning of the voting that ut two of the most beloved competitors at risk. This week, unlike the ones before, after the end of the airing the conversations haven't boiled down, but have continued even during Extra Factor. The audience is starting to get passionate to the true characters of this edition, and engagement is starting to be more intense.

Top posters
The users that have tweeted the most during the evening have been, apart from the official profile, @fede_sacco with 93 tweets, followed by @pupiparis (72) and @makisdurexlove (60), three very young users, lovers of music and very active on Twitter. This proves how the social audience of X-Factor has changed in the past couple of weeks, activating a teenager target, which recognizes itself in the younger contestants. Since the majority are girls, this explains why the voting saved Daniele, although he was challenging Nice, a character that was very strong until the week before.

#XF6: 50.000 tweets and engagement through the roof for @OneDirection

X Factor 6 is at its third airing and we at The Fool analyze the mentions of the main hashtags on Twitter, in order to understand how the social tendencies of the show are evolving. Last week we saw how the audience's preferences were for Chiara, followed by a sudden interest for ICS's hip hop. What happened this week?

Let's start with the number of total tweets and retweets to understand how active the audience was on Twitter during the show. The total mentions that included the official #XF6 hashtag were 49.605, divided almost in half between tweets and retweets. It is worth mentioning that the number of tweets created by the official @XFactor_Italia profile were 102, and its retweets 4.086. A definitely positive number, considering that last week the number of retweets of the official channel were 1.748. This boom of engagement can be called the "One Direction" effect, caused by the boy band guest of the show that made the hearts and social profiles of fans beat, influencing all the numbers of the airing of the first of November. A striking example is the difference between men and women: 21.550 tweets from women against 12.123 from men. If last week the beginning of "Servizio Pubblico" had an influence, this week the teens in fibrillation for their idols have monopolized Twitter.

The One Direction shock wave has influenced the top retweets, that are all focused on the English-Irish boy band. The two most popular tweets are by @MarcoMoriniTW, the founder of Team World, that has conquered the public with a teasor on One Direction, retweeted by more than 2.500 users. @alecattelan and @Chiupetta follow, retweeted respectively 294 and 214 times.

A number that varied from last week is the evening's top posters. The extremely active @Camilla_Elia for two consecutive weeks in the top, has given her place to an already known @Xlavimars who produced 165 tweets during the airing, and the new entries @wait_for_dublin and @Socallmeily. If we look at their profiles more carefully, we notice that @Xlavimars is a careful weekly chronist, while the two new top posters are in the top because attracted and activated by One Direction. Among the most followed tweeters we find at the top of the list @RadioDeejay, @SkySport and @Simo_Ventura. This week the conductor @alecattelan appears as well as an unexpected @Marracash, not because of interest for the program, but because a fan compared him esthetically to one of the contestants.

The public attention was kept until 23:00, when One Direction performed, reaching the peak of mentions, more than 20.000, winded down in the following hour to just 8.000.

Among the most mentioned judges this week there is Simona Ventura with almost 4.000 dedicated tweets, followed by Morgan, Elio and Arisa. Ventura has had a central role in this episode because of the elimination of her neo contestant Alessandro after only one airing. The audience's tweets, after the ones dedicated to the judge by the men Under 24, are for Morgan, and particularly for his contestants. The ex frontman of Bluvertigo has a very strong rose, both for talent and capacity to generate discussion.

These evaluation that are purely qualitative find a confirmation in the analyses of the individual singers: Alessandro was mentioned in 2.394 tweets, followed by ICS (2.065) and Romina (1.665). The group of Frères Chaos this week has passed under silence, obscured by Donatella. Nice and Chiara remain very discussed and liked on Twitter, and the same can be said about Davide and Daniele. Another number that shouldn't be underestimated is the number of tweets per category: under 24 men are the team that generates more conversations on the social network... Could it depend on the passionate teens we were talking about earlier?

If the social audience should shift towards a more teenly target, we could see a reversal of the favorites. We could go from an eclectic, but adult Chiara, to the younger and less mature Daniele and Davide, which are the male versione of last year's edition, Francesca Michelin. We'll find out during the next analyses.

In quanti avranno menzionato l'hashtag ufficiale #XF6? Scopriamolo.

Italian X Factor 6th edition: Chiara dominates, Ics in #gangnam version and Morgan emerges among the judges

We gladly announce The Fool's weekly space on Intervistato.com, and here we are talking about the second episode of X Factor 6, that airs on SkyUno and is unleashing the tweetters of Italy.
Last week we saw how the first episode was received on the 140 character social network, and pointing out that the public had already chosen the heroin. How did the second airing go? How many have mentioned the official #XF6 hashtag? Let's find out.

Let's start from an important number, the total number of tweets and retweets during the airing and the demografic division of the talent show's audience.
The official hashtag has been mentioned 65.273 times, three quarters of which have been tweets and only a quarter retweets. The audience remains very active on Twitter, showing a strong fidelization to the program and a great need to express itself. Unlike the first episode that saw the audience almost perfectly divided into men and women, the second attracted more female interactions. This target difference may depend on the first episode of "Servizio pubblico" on La7, which attracts the male audience more, but we cannot know with certainty.

Among the numerous commentators that this week have followed the talent show, @Camilla_Elia is definitely the first of the top posters, followed by @AlessandroTurko and @Lucy. Among the most influent speakers online we find @RadioDejaay, which is present at the show with two renown characters such as Diego and La Pina, followed by @SattaMelissa and the judge @Simo_Ventura.

We've looked for the most creative users among the famous and not famous, the ones that conquered Twitter and have been massively retweeted.
First place by far for @francescocosta who expressed the desire to see ICS dancing the Gangnam Style and has been retweeted 237 times; perhaps the producers should take that into account... The second most retweeted post was written by @dominiconaso, who managed to mix the topics of X Factor with those of "Servizio Pubblico", and was retweeted 222 times. Finally we should quote the tweet - at the sixth place in the list - of a renown TV personality, Daria Bignardi, who has expressed her favor towards the most curious group of this sixth edition: the Frères Chaos, also called #brotherincest, a self-explaining hashtag.

In spite of the competition with La7, we should highlight an important aspect: the temporal evolution of comments on the social network. The first week we had seen a peak between 21 and 22, while this time the attention of the public has been constant until the end of the airing, with an average of almost 12.000 tweets per hour. This fact may have been influenced by the wise decision of posticipating the guest (Club Dogo, with Cile and Giuliano Palma) at the end of the show, managing to keep the audience focused until the "Extra Factor".

During this time the Twitter audience has definitely rooted for Morgan, who - with more than 4000 dedicated tweets - beats the histrionic Simona Ventura, second in the chart, followed almost at an equal level by Elio and Arisa. The latter has had great interest at the end of the show, finding herself with two of her groups at the final vote, where she left herself go to verbal and emotional externations without control, managing to conquer the audience's tweets.

Observing the comments about competitors, the singers that have attracted the audience have been: Chiara with more than 4000 dedicated tweets, Daniele with 2765 tweets, an interest that we thought would be directed to Davide, who has had much less attention this week, probably because he was shadowed by the (beauty) and skills of the new competitor Alessandro. Among the Under 24 Women, Nice and Cixi are on top, both earning more than 1500 tweets. The Donatellas are still not very experienced singers, but they have attracted the audience (1638 tweets): evidently their character beats vocal skills.

We should consider however that the web is having fun giving nicknames to singers, and creating hashtags that are becoming more popular than the official ones, but we'll talk about this part in a different analysis.
What we can say with certainty is that X Factor is a talent show that must be lived, especially online, both by the critics and the fans. Chiara is now clearly the audience's favourite, and we'll see how this will influence the next episodes.

Buona visione!

Intervistato.com | Vincenzo Cosenza

Some time ago we interviewed Vincenzo Cosenza aka Vincos, social media strategist in BlogMeter: we talked about sentiment analysis, big data, analysis tools and the evolution of the social network scenario.

First of all we asked Vincenzo what are the parameters that are taken into consideration in the sentiment evaluation of individual posts. The type of approach that is used is rule-based, a search engine that gathers posts and messages online based on keywords that are of interest for that particular analysis. The text is then examined with a series of syntactic and grammar rules defined by a team of computational linguists. [video]

As for the management of omonymy and polysemy, there is a set of rules, a dedicated module in the system that has the goal of solving problems regarding these two particular cases. [video]

Another question we asked was about the updating of the computation algorithms of language in a time when languages evolves so rapidly. Vincenzo has revealed that the process is carried on by linguists "by hand": the real problem is that the language we use on the web has peculiar characteristics that make it very complex to manage by a machine. [video]

Sarcasm and irony represent the most difficult aspect of sentiment analysis: there have been made many a study about them, and the solution that has been majorly adopted is an approach based on constantly updated rules, but also a series of sample surveys, in order to understand whether the machine is actually understanding the messages properly or not. There is a percentage of error in any case, by it can be lowered significantly with a human reading. [video]

The error percentage depends largely on one factor: whether the analysis has a well define semantic field or not. In the first case, in which messages can treat any topic, the precision is about 84% for sentiment. When the semantic field is well defined, precision goes well over 90%. [video]

There are several studies that state that, with an adequate analysis of sentiment on Twitter it is possible to know how financial markets will vary 5 days in advance: Vincenzo has carefully been following these studies, but he believes they're not very convincing. The only thing we really know is that there are companies that do this as their core business, but in his experience these are very complex analyses, and the results uncertain. On the other hand, there is some extremely interesting research that analyze the tie the success of a movie to the user sentiment on social media right before or right after the movie is launched: in this case the correlation is much more reliable. [video]

Finally we asked what is the social network that Vincenzo prefers and for what reason: he said that he has no favorite social, but he is fond of Facebook because he started studying many years ago, when in Italy it was still considered a social network for kids. He uses indistinctly, and thanks to his job he has the possibility to test them in order to understand which one is the most adequate based on needs. [video]

We also asked how social media are evolving, whether following a globalized or glocalized model: Vincenzo believes that the first model is prevailing, and is spreading more and more. Thanks to the social media map that he build, he discovered that the trend is to have a stronger leader in every nation, and at the moment, in the majority of cases, that leader is Facebook. That doesn't happen in just a few countries, and mainly for political reasons.

Anyhow Vincenzo is convinced that there shall be always space for local social networks that know how to interpret the needs of a certain population. Next to Facebook, people will also use the local social network. Even Twitter and Linkedin, that are present at a global level, aren't dying because of the great Facebook boom: they live because they found a niche that other socials haven't found. [video]

I invite you to view the full interview, much richer in content than my brief synthesis.

Enjoy!
