10minuticon Cinzia Bancone @cinziabancone

10minuteswith Cinzia Bancone

A few days ago we interviewed Cinzia Bancone, journalist and webvoice of Massimo Bernardini's TV Talk.

As for the evolution of TV formats, according to Cinzia during the last decade very few ideas have appeared on our TV: there are many old programs, such as Amici, Striscia la Nnotizia, or Affari Tuoi. The only big evolutions have been in the world of realities and talent shows, all new formats that come from abroad. Lately the most interesting news has been social TV, the interaction between the Internet and the TV, which is the aspect that tells the most stories in this scenario. The language evolves, but if we talk about the formats, the scenario is pretty much flat.

The same thing is true for political talk shows, the tribune with the counterposition between left and right. There are no big news in the language, but the tone has changed, and there has been a progressive humanization and spectacularization of politics. We've seen politicians go cook in formats, or politicians who got out of the typical political talk show to participate in programs where their personality was more prominent (as in Matteo Renzi's case at Amici).

Unfortunately there are no great news if not the ones given to us by social networks, which have changed the TV political comunication, and have determined politicians to have a more direct relationship with public opionion. They climb down the pedistall, and have the possibility to interact with citizens, but we have exceptions here as well, as the case of Beppe Grillo, who never answers nor interacts with his followers.

The work of those in comunication has changed drastically: once the reference point was the agency roll, and the press offices of politicians were the one to dictate the agenda. Now it's almost the contrary, with users on Twitter creating the agenda.

In spite of all this, social networks haven't managed to truly change the television language of political communication, and perhaps the two worlds will never truly integrate. They are tools with very different timings, and it is clear that in order to have an interaction, you must broadcast live, a possibility that recorded show already lose. One is a medium that communicates from a small staff of people to a great mass; the web is something different, there are various niches that are somehow connected, and it is difficult to find a way to make the two worlds truly interact.

We must consider that not everyone who watches TV is a social media expert: the TV audience is also made of old people, or people who don't have a grip on technology. This is why it is necessary to respect the reference targets, and it is good that the web remains one thing and TV another.

Cinzia has also told us about her studies and how she started to work in TV Talk, so I invite everyone to view the full interview, much richer than my very brief synthesis.

Prossimamente: Massimo Bernardini @maxbernardini
