Prossimamente: Alberto Cottica @alberto_cottica

Coming up soon: Alberto Cottica

Tomorrow we'll have have the pleasure of interviewing Alberto Cottica, economist, expert of public collaborative online politics and author of Wikicracy.

Music and social sciences have always been his main interests. Not being able to decide between the two, he decided to pursue both and he ended up turning into a strange mix of a folk-world musician on the one side and an economist interested in human creativity as a development engine on the other.

As an economist, he is an expert of public collaborative online politics. The pervasivity of the Internet, together with the social changes it associates with, opens the door to the production of public politics and even some public services in a wiki, collaborative mode.
He has matured a direct experience in the launch, maintenance and curation of citizen communities that work together with government authorities towards public goals. He has worked mainly for the Ministry of Economic Development and the Council of Europe, but he also has experiences at a regional and local level.

He is interested in complexity economics, and he believes this to be a fruitful way to think about these topics; to make his analysis even more precise he does research in this field as a PhD student at the University of Alicante. He has published a book on public politics in the web's time, called Wikicracy, several papers and his blog; when he writes or speaks in public he does his best to be clear without making the topics he's treating trivial.

As a musician he is interested in the roots of his native Emilia Romagna, which he loves to tell through music around the world. His main project is the digital folk group Fiamma Fumana, very active especially in North America and North Europe. He also collaborates with his old friend Cisco and occasionally, with some foreign world music artists such as the British Transglobal Underground and the Danish Gudrun Holck. He is also in the founding group of the Modena City Ramblers, in which he has participated for years.

We'll have the chance to talk about Wikicracy, how politics changed during these last few years thanks to the new technologies and especially the future perspectives in this field.

Of course, if you want to propose a question, simply fill in the form above!
